About Me

For starters, my name is Lindsey Coffman. I grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone and everyone knows everything about everyone or they thought they did. But isn't that always the case with smal towns? I was raised in a God - fearing household to the absolute best parents that anyone could ask for and I couldn't be more proud to call them my parents. I attended Lexington High School with many of the same people that I also graduated elementary school with, having a 4.0 overall grade point average. Over my high school career I was involved with many clubs and various activities. I played basketball and soccer all through high school, so it is very ironic that I am here at Bethel University on a cheerleading scholarship. I had always been involved in All-Stars, which is competivie cheerleading, but I had always seen myself coming to college on a basketball or soccer scholarship, instead of cheerleading. But, God has a purpose for everything and this is something that I have always lived by. Which brings me to my next point, all throughout high school, I was known as the "popular" or "goody good girl" and whenever I came to Bethel I had the mindset that I was just that, better than this and everything to do with it. Whenever I first graduated high school, I was planning to attend University of Alabama on a cheerleading scholarship, yet things didn't work out the way that I had planned, hince the reason I am here. When I first came to Bethel, I was a double major with Nursing and Pre-Pharmacy, now in my Junior year, I have ditched the double major and strictly focused on majoring in Nursing, in hopes of entering the Nursing program very soon. God is a huge influence on my life and I am completely dedicated to the fulfillment to His kingdom with the life that He has presented me with. I recently got back from South Africa on a misson trip where I surrendered to the mission field, in hopes of one day doing some medical mission work. Along with sports and church, I also share a love of art and passion for photography. I like to look at things differently than others, primarily behind the lens of a camera. I view the world very differently that others, primarily with the fact that I am not content with it, there has got to be something more than just the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a higher calling. I myself, have never been a particularily verbose person and I believe that's why I like photography so much, because the pictures, well they speak for themselves. With photography, I don't have to worry about my words coming out wrong or saying the wrongs things, the pictures can say the words I couldn't say. This is where I got the title for my blog, "The Pictures Speak." And it also goes into the goals that I have for this course, through this course I hope to increase my knowledge of the history of photography and learn more about the aspects of taking a good and quality photograph, one that the viewer will be impressed with.
